Let Go or Be Dragged

Original 8/30/18, Today 5/11/21

I try my best not to let what I don’t have or what I fear I won’t have dictate my decisions.

It’s easy to lose sight of that though.

New moons are a good time and a good reminder to pay attention to what I’ve been spending (or wasting) time, thoughts, and energy on.

It’s a fucking new moon tonight. I wrote that August 30, 2019 and tonight is a new moon.

We’re told to “let it all go” and to “release that which no longer serves us.” For whatever reason, that sends us on a hunt for a buggy (y’all might call it a cart or a basket where you’re from) to push through our mental aisles, looking for shit to throw away.

I JUST posted about buggies today!

Unless that’s what you wanna do, it ain’t necessary to dig up everything that’s been weighing you down. Whenever I have writer’s block, I look at everything on my plate. What all am I juggling, or trying to achieve, right now?

If it’s a lot, that’s why I ain’t making progress. When I focus on just one or two things at a time, though, my footing is firmer. Earlier this year, I wanted to start working out regularly. Once I got that down, I had more energy for Krak Teet.

I wanna get back working out regularly.

During my writing retreats, we share ONE thing we either want to embrace going forward or something we want to release. When we follow up with each other 30 days later, our loads are just little lighter.

Focus on one thing. And write it down.

If you ignored everything you need (especially money), what’s one thing you’re ready to let go of?

It might be:

  • tangible (e.g. hair, weight, house, car, junky closet)
  • abstract (thought, memory, worry, fear)
  • relational (relationship, job, conflict, city of residence)
  • or something else

I just recorded a video about what I’m currently releasing and meanings for the moon phases. [Click here to watch]
