…and she’s a nutrition specialist too.
I met Alysa at a natural hair show in Savannah last year. We both attended as vendors. As usual, I can never just sell, I have to shop as well. So I snooped over to her booth for some snacks, and bruh! Whoever knew that a cup of crunchy, healthy stuff could taste so good?
Alysa was another that I was drawn to. She wasn’t selling trendy, marketed lies. No fluff. She knows her stuff and doesn’t have to convince anyone of that. Ask her a question and her message is clearly conveyed.
Her Facebook page keeps me abreast of nutritional tips such as slimming foods to keep on hand, as well as fitness challenges. Seeing that I’m not doing so well in my goal of aligning with my #TopShelfMe (follow the hashtag on IG for more info), I may need to invest in both Alysa and myself in the very near future.
See what I mean? Without further ado, I introduce to you…Alysa Jackson.
How old are you?
24
When did you know that you wanted to work for yourself?
I knew at a very young age. My father had his own business and I like the freedom it gives.
What do you do, and how long have you been in business?
I am a personal fitness trainer and nutrition specialist. I’ve been doing this for one year now.
Describe your ideal client.
Women who are looking to start or maintain a healthier lifestyle through fitness and nutrition without having to go to the gym. Also, women who are looking to acquire a custom fitness regime, nutrition guidance and motivation.
Did you ever think to give up?
Yes, especially last year.
What motivated you to keep going?
My family’s support and faith motivated me to move forward.
What was the biggest obstacle that you’ve faced?
Getting my certification. I had to take an exam to receive my certification in personal training, and it took me a couple of tries to pass it. After the first time I failed it, I didn’t take the traditional way of studying. I did hands on work and research and I was able to pass the exam.
What advice would you lend an aspiring entrepreneur?
Be patient. Don’t try to rush into things and do so many projects all at once. Take your time and work on one thing at a time when it comes to your business.

I attend Alysa’s Cardio Blasters classes in Forsyth Park on Saturday mornings. This young lady is a true motivator. I have about 40 pounds to lose and am confident that this is the right place to start. She is energetic and a lot of fun, and the workout is true to the class name. What a wonderful way to connect with interesting people who can also give you the motivation to continue on. She meets her class by the big fountain at 10 am. I look forward to seeing the students from previous classes. God bless, Alysa. May your life be holy and prosperous.
