Like Lady Justice, we all hold scales. One of the them is the Scale of Freedom. On one side is fear. On the other side is faith.
It is totally up to you which side of the scale weighs more. We all have fears, even the most successful and inspiring. The question is:
How do you react to your fears?
Do you show up? Or sit down? I used to react by making excuses such as not having enough time, money, followers, etc. This falls under the category of sitting down. I wasn’t there. I wasn’t doing it–whatever it is.
I remember having a dream that I’d completely forgotten about my graduation day. Because I’d forgotten, I was ill-prepared. I didn’t even have my graduation gown. Later, I researched the meaning of it (though in my womb, I already knew). Just as I’d suspected, it meant that I wasn’t mentally prepared for the next stage in my life; I was subconsciously holding myself back.
Trelani, are you really going to let fear (a mere perception) limit all that’s been divinely designated to you?
I (literally) clapped my palms together, thanked God for the revelation, and made it my mission to adjust my mentality. I unplugged and reconnected with Self. Here, I learned that:
Beneath my titles is flesh. Beneath flesh is Spirit. Spirit is God. Thus, it is immortal; it doesn’t recognize fear. Fear is an issue of the flesh.
I’d been made aware. My awareness was brought on by my presence. My spiritual presence is what combated my secular fears.
Make it your mission to combat your fears with your presence.
Your presence is marked by attention and intention.
What does the completed vision consist of? Compare what you’re doing now to what you’re doing in the vision. What’s the difference? What will it take to get from here to there?
My goal is to become a full-time entrepreneur minus the 9-5. The primary differences are that I’ll no longer be clocking in and out. I’ll have more clients. I’ll conduct more workshops. I’ll travel, speak, vend, and volunteer more.
To get from here to there, I have to quit my job.
That’s where intention comes in.
What do I have to do to quit my job? Well, since I want this to be a relatively smooth transition, I’ll need to budget better: spend less, save more, and invest. I’ll need to set firmer goals and deadlines. There’s more, of course, but that’s the gist.
What do you have to do?
We tend to get addicted to the attention-stage: gathering resources and information, dreaming, desiring, and planning. It’s fun and easy. Attention requires mental presence.
Intention, on the other hand, requires physical presence. This is where sacrifices and showing up takes the stage. It’s where fear creeps in. You have to sacrifice a few dollars and hours. You have to sign up for the classes, pay the money, and actually show up. You have to put on the production, write the book, pitch the idea, etc.
What does your fears consist of? How do you brush ’em off?
